Trip to OZ ( Australia )

This afternoon my dear wife shall be driving me to Glasgow airport .

My plan is to board a plane to fly me to London , Singapore  then Brisbane.

Arrival time in Brisbane is 6.55am on Thursday.  There I shall be met by Colin Lobb , a man I have known since 1975.

This trip in mainly a vacation , but I shall have a few preaching opportunities. Colin has arranged for me to preach in Dunamis Christian Centre in Tanah Merah next Sunday ( 4 Nov. ) , and also on Wednesday 7 Nov. in his church on the Gold Coast.

Colin also has a boat so there might be some news on the fishing front , with NO EXAGERATIONS.

On Thursday I fly to Hobart Tasmania , where I grew up , and will be staying for several weeks with my “little” brother Keith.

Please pray for me.

Great Defender of Life Dinner - New York

Last Thursday I was given a special treat. Fr Kowalsky , the pastor of the new Rectory where I was staying in New York , took me to the Human Life Foundation’s  Great Defender of Life Dinner. The man receiving the award was James L. Buckley. This amazing man has served in three branches of the US government. He was a Federal Senator , representing New York from 1971 to 1977. He then worked in the State Department ( Foreign Office )  under President Regan. Lastly he was appointed a judge to the Court of Appeals for the District of Colombia.

In 1984 President Regan named Mr Buckley to lead the US delegation to the Mexico City conference on population. There he stunned the population control zealots by announcing what is now  called the Mexico City Policy. Any US groups who perform or promote abortion abroad are denied Federal Government funding. Every Republican President since then has re-instituted the Mexico City policy on his first day in office. The Democratic presidents do the reverse. The pro-abortionists call this the Global Gag Rule.

In Mexico City wording was agreed that “ in no case shall abortion be promoted as a method of family planning. “  This great wording still gets into UN documents from time to time. So I was thrilled to meet this wonderful pro-life senator, ambassador and judge and have a photo taken with him.

Still at the UN

L to R :  Heidi Jensen , Peter Smith , Laura Fels

On Thursday I was invited to the Christian Embassy
 (  http://www.christianembassyun.org/ )   for  lunch
and Bible study.  I always try to attend this meeting
when in New York. They provide a very nice meal
and I get to meet delegates from different countries,
 many of  whom are Christian.

Pictured above are  Heidi Jensen  and Laura Fels
who are very often a great help to my work
 at the UN.

United Nations , New York - Vienna Cafe

From L to R : Rebecca Oas ( C-Fam ) , Peter Smith ,Rita Al Marie ( Holy See ) & Wendy Wright ( C-Fam )

Well I have been here at the UN for two days already. There is not much action at this time as many countries are just giving their position on certain general issues , like trafficking in persons , etc.

I have been going round saying hello to delegates that I already know, and meeting others.

Shown above are some of the people  I work with.

Trinidad to New York

Fundraising dinner Sat night

Sunday - with Pastor Austin

Thursday evening I got to speak to 30 students at the Open Bible Institute of Theology. I was very warmly received.

Friday morning  I spoke to 100 lads at Holy Cross High School. One of the boys was asked to give a vote of thanks for my talk , he did very well for a 16 years old.

Friday evening and Saturday I got my pupils to do their SPUC pro-life presentations. There were 12 in total , all passed.

On Saturday evening  I was the key-note speaker at the annual Elpis CentreFundraising dinner. There were 160 people at this dinner. Certificates werehanded out to the newly qualified speakers.

On Sunday morning I preached  in a large Pentecostal church , some 150 people were present. See me with their Senior Pastor Austin. This is the Church who lent us a room to conduct the Pro-life training.

Monday flew to New York for a 2 week stint at the UN.

Trinidad half day off

Guess who caught the largest fish ?
Garry , at the helm , a former OMer took me fishing.
As I had worked last week-end and as I will  be working next week-end ,  I thought a half days fishing would be a good tonic.

I met Garry at the Church I spoke in last Sunday. He used to be with OM and knows George Verwer very well. Garry now has a youth ministry and takes the lads fishing in his 30 foot boat ( 75 HP outboard ) at various times. He very generously offered to take me fishing with some of his family and friends.

This was a wonderful half day out and the Lord answered my prayer for a few nice fish. The one opposite will be served to me tomorrow night and shall meet the consumation of his existence. ( Please forgive my poor English )

Trinidad update

Tuesday I got to do two SPUC pro-life presentations
in a High School in Port Of Spain. In the second class
there were around  300 students from forms 3 to 5.
See photo opposite.

Wednesday I spoke at another High School and the University. About half the University students were for me.

Tonight I get to speak at a Theology College.

I have been having computer problems , now fixed.

Trinidad

My driver , Robbie

Last Thursday I flew to Newark in New Jersey ( got upgraded to First class , very nice ), stayed the night at a cheap hotel near the airport. Was up at 5.30am ( jet lag helps here ). Was at the airport at 7am , checked in had breakfast. Got on the plane that was to fly me to Houston , Texas , then to Trinidad. All seemed to be going well, then the pilot said there was engine trouble. I am always happy for the captain to discover engine trouble BEFORE we are in the air. So it was back to the terminal , and I got on the 11.48pm flight, that day, direct to Trinidad landing at 4.50am. I was again upgraded to First class , and got about 3 hours sleep. Upon landing I was taken to my guest house by Robbie. It’s the first time someone has held up the paper with my name on at the airport. Got one hour’s sleep at the guest house.
At 10 am I started the pro-life speaker’s course , the new one just developed by SPUC. There were 11 people for me to train. I almost fell asleep in my soup that night.
Was up early on Sunday as I was preaching in the Westside Community Church. Pastor Anthony Oliver very kindly shared his pulpit with me. There was a very good response after the service , see photo.
Sunday afternoon I did more training , this time with 12 students. I also did some training on population and the UN. I was again pretty tired last night , but slept well. Only one mosquito bit me last night.
I will be speaking in some high schools this week and doing more training next Saturday.

After Church last Sunday
