One of my heros
This is a statue of Sir Keth Park who led 11 group in the Battle of Britain in 1940. He was in charge of fighter command over London and the south east of England. I walked past this statue today on my way to lunch.
My grandfather served under him. Next to Lord Dowding, one of my Battle of Britain heroes .. though of course Air Vice Marshal Trafford Leigh-Mallory (Park's successor) played his part also.
