One event - Bible conference - Lincoln

Well here I am at the One Event , formerley Grapevine Bible Conference in Lincoln , England.

We had a good responses with many people signing the petition so support the two Glasgow midwives in their conscientious objection against abortion court case.

Yesterday I conducted the following interview :

At a Bible conference , today in Lincoln , I met a lady whom we shall call Judy. Some ten years ago she worked at an abortion clinic for one year. She was a nurse's assistant
working for an agency. Three days a week she helped out at a large private abortion clinic.
Firstly she used to get the trolleys ready , after this she assisted by handing the abortion doctor
instruments. Then after about 2 months she was given the job of sorting through the aborted material.
This was passed through a very fine filter and Judy had to put back together all the small body parts
to make sure the abortionist did not miss any bits.

I asked her if she had seen any women suffered any injuries at this clinic. She remembered very well a 23 year old woman who had her third baby aborted. She was married and already had 2 children. Without telling her husband she decided to abort her third child. After the suction abortion , she walked out of the recovery room , asked for a glass of water, then dropped down to the floor with a massive heart attack. She was given heart massage in the abortion clinic until the ambulance people arrived. They got her heart going , but she was badly brain damaged. While all this was going on the abortionist took photos of the scene on his blackberry , so that if he were prosecuted he could claim that he had one all the right things. The women in the clinic who had not been aborted were sent home and the clinic was closed for one week.

The abortion clinic did an abortion once every 10 to 15 minutes , 9 to 5 , for 3 days / week.

I asked Judy how she decided to leave this abortion clinic work , and she told me that she gained custody of her daughter's two children, and was busy looking after them as their legal guardian.

I then asked how she got saved. She said there was this other nurse she worked with in a hospital , not the abortion clinic, who she hated for no reason. One day she went up to her and asked " How do you pray ? " This was done with no prior thought or planning. The other nurse explained how you need to say sorry to God for all the bad things you have done, then you need to commit your life to Christ and live according to His way. That same evening she did this.

She had almost no spiritual input in her early life. She lived with an abusive boyfriend , who threw her out when she was converted.

She then lived in a safe place. The sister whom she hated for no reason , had been praying for Judy for two years. She now attends a large active church where she lives in England.

This Friday I head off to Lincoln , in England. The local SPUC branch have a display table at a big Bible conference , and I will be helping out. Return home the following Tuesday.

An answer to prayer

Weight 4 .5 pounds , length 2 feet
For the past 5 years I have been fishing , in my spare time , from my wee boat off Irvine , Scotland. For all of this time I have caught many crabs and mackeral . But I have been praying for a lobster.

Well yesterday my prayer was answered. As I pulled in the third and final trap I saw quite a few crabs. Then my eye fastened onto a very large dark blue object. And there he is pictured on the bottom of my boat floor.

A most amazing answer to prayer.

Special prayer request - China

Many thanks to all who prayed for my recent trip to Sri Lanka. The Lord opened up many doors for me to meet senior political and religious leaders there.

I have a new request. There is a couple , in China , memebers of a house church , where the wife is pregnant with their second child. She does not have a birth permit , so if the family planning officials discove that she is pregnant she could be forcibly aborted. I have been asked to try to get her political assylum . Please pray thay this may be successful and one chinese baby is saved from destruction.

A brave Cardinal

Today I had the great pleasure today of meeting His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith , in Colombo. Out of a very busy work schedule he spent one hour talking with myself , Sr Kathleen and Eric.

His Eminence is very well informed about the activities of UN agencies and foreign NGOs who are trying to get abortion legalized in Sri Lanka.

If only other countries had such brave church leaders who are not afraid to speak up and promote a culture of life.

Inter-religious meeting in Sri Lanka

Today I had a very interesting meeting with the Ven. Professor Bellanwila Wimalaratana , Chancellor of Sri Jayawardanapura University , Sri Lanka. He is pro-life and is on an inter-religious council here and later this month he will meet with other leaders to make a pro-life declaration. He is a Buddhist priest. Some 70% of Sri Lankans are Buddhists.

The picture was taken by my friend Eric Jeevaraj who is a Sri Lankan and now lives in London. Eric has been the driving force behind my 4 trips to Sri Lanka. This is the first time Eric and I have been together in Sri Lanka

A lunch to remember

Yesterday I went with Sr Kathleen to meet a local politician , one we had met on a previous visit.
Then we had no appointments for several hours.

Then the Lord inspired me to contact the business man I had met the previous day at the Foreign ministry.

We were immediately invited over for lunch , a car was sent for us. After a most delicious lunch , with many of the top executives the opposite photo was taken.

Left to right is Mr Nimal Fonseka , Executive Secretary of ABC Holdings , myself , Sr Kathleen and Mr John Dissanayake , Chairman of ABC Holdings. The Chairman is brother -in-law to the deputy foreign minister that we had just met ( see previous blog ).  John is a very committeed catholic and is extremely pro-life. I also met his three sons.

Then I had a great meeting with my friend Jeyaraj , who works for Youth for Christ , but is now seconded to Prison Fellowship Ministries. He came all the way from Kandy , in the central highlands to see me. On my next visit I propose to have a week of ministry with my dear brother Jeyaraj.

Then I was interviewed by a very pro-life newspaper reporter who I have known for several years.

It was a good day yesterday , praise God.
